fresh food from the earth - oh yeah!

morning,

although we've been getting some home grown vegetables for a while now we got particularly excited this morning when we pulled the first of the potatoes and carrots.

below is a photograph showing all of the vegetables we have today from our garden:

and here's some close-ups of them for your viewing pleasure.

our first carrots:

courgettes:

french beans:

haricot beans:

peas:

our first potatoes!!!!!

the first sunflower to give us seeds:

we've also got a few jars of gherkins pickling as i write, we've had the first of our onions and are constantly harvesting lettuce, nasturtians, rocket and spinach as well as our herbs (basil, mint, sage, thyme, rosemary and oregano) and so all-in-all we're pretty pleased with our haul.

one of the best meals we've enjoyed recently was homemade ravioli stuffed with homemade pesto with a fresh tomato and basil sauce followed by wild berry and apple crumble with custard - oh yeah!

cheers, gairy.
