sunshine for a morning!

Much to all of our excitement it was sunny, to the point where gairy was worried about getting burnt, this morning. All morning we busied ourselves in the garden - planting out over grown plantlings from the increasingly crowded greenhouse. Monkey Boy (MB) got a very good rythm going with the syth and manged to clear a big area for our new super greenhouse. Basically we've realised that the weather here can be difficult to predict and so having more options of growing undercover will increase our chances of cropping lots of tasty food in the future (and having food to eat over the winter!). Once the grasses were cut, we built two wigwam type structures and lay the grasses on them to dry out (to become future animal feed).

Here's what the wigwams look like:

and this is what our greenhouse is
looking like, the tomatoes are kicking off!

We've also been on a few walks and not only spotted lots more shrooms, but also spotted a snake that we have identified as a Asp Viper (also known as a Vipera aspis). We seem to have found his spot where he hangs out in the early evenings. He's apparently poisonous but he seemed to be pretty cool and liked to keep himself to himself. The photo below isn't great, cos MB didn't want to get too close!

We've spotted quite a few Elderberry bushes and are
getting excited about making cordials, wines and juices.

There are SO many different types of wild flowers springing
up all over the place - it's beautiful! These big daisy things are great!

Check out this beautiful flutter-by !

Got to go now - about to eat some home-made delights - veggie burgers followed by Apple and Cherry Bread and Butter Pudding!

Yum!Yum!

from a hungry happy Nikki

Looking good chaps, glad you liked the back garden blog MB. Will set a proper blog up soon once Sonia has finished the wedding video she's doing. Your right Gairy need to make a bigger green house for the toms, they're getting pretty big, also want to grow more stuff next year so need something bigger.
Will keep you informed on the baby progress only 2 1/2 weeks left.
Later #1.
