as you no doubt know already - we've been getting loads of vegetables from the garden and have been trying to think of ways to store the excess for the long cold winter that awaits us.
so far we have:
- pickled four jars of red cabbage which is almost ready for eating (not sure it's even going to see winter???)
- frozen a big batch of courgette and potato soup
- pickled six jars (with many more to come as they continue to ripen) of gherkins
- made up 13 jars (with loads more to be done) of pasta sauce using the massive amount of the three varieties of tomatoes we're growing
- blanched and frozen a huge load of courgettes
- made a jar of the sweetest jam known to mankind using rose hip petals and wild strawberries
see the photograph of some of the pickles/pasta sauce:

at the bottom is a tub of todays tomatoes showing just how many we're getting!
we still plan on making some blackberry jam when we muster up the energy to go get them in big enough quantities.
finally, here's a photograph of our favourite cherry tomato - ain't he cute!
we've named him 'nubin'

that's all for now.
cheers, gairy.

Hey Gairy, it looks like things are going great there. This is Gregg Dickson from the Derrick Jensen forum. I don't know if you would recognize my name but I just wanted to see if you were looking for WOOFers or free labor in later November/early December. We are going to be in France during that time. We includes myself, my wife and our two year old. Also, we are really used to roughing it or camping so we don't need much space, etc.
